I help people in their 40's and 50's planning to retire early in the next five years, through the CoRetire Planning Experience.
If you've done a good job saving into 401(k)s and IRAs, you may be asking, Can I really afford to stop working?
Health insurance. What will coverage cost after I leave my job and before Medicare starts? Will I qualify for ACA Marketplace subsidies?
Roth conversions. Could converting some of my savings now reduce my future required minimum distributions (RMDs)? How would a conversion affect my ACA subsidies that year?
Diversifying concentrated company stock. How do I sell my stock tax efficiently? Are there options to diversify without the immediate tax hit and imapct on ACA subsidies?
Retirement income. Which accounts should I draw from first, and when should I claim Social Security?
Investment planning. How much should I set aside for the first few years of retirement, and how should I invest the rest for long-term growth?
You’ll work directly with me for a flat annual fee. We’ll stress-test your retirement date and spending, then put the plan into action together. I provide year-round tax planning and send your tax preparer a summary for your return. Investment management is included if you want it, and you can keep accounts where they are or consolidate and let CoPlanning Financial manage with no additional cost.
After creating your financial plan, we work together with the hands-on part of CoRetire Advocate. Once we’ve agreed on what to do, I schedule working sessions to get it done with you. We fill out forms together, call financial institutions, and work through each step. When it helps, I’ll speak on your behalf while we’re on the call. You can show up knowing I’ll guide you through what comes next. With CoPlanning as your Advocate, you'll finally get your financial plan checked off your list: estate plan created, your 401(k) transferred, investments simplified, and your beneficiary's updated.
If you’re deciding whether to keep or sell a rental property, we’ll look at what each property actually earns after expenses relative to the equity you have in it. Then we’ll compare what keeping it or selling it would mean for your retirement income, taxes, and time. My advisory fee stays the same whether you keep the property or sell it and invest the proceeds with me.
I’m a former engineer. Financial independence gave me more time with my family, and that experience led me to start CoPlanning with Asian American and immigrant families in mind. I offer planning in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
